Boudoir Session :: Justine in Black and White

These are just a few of the photos from a 12 month calendar we created for Justine. Each month featured a different concept ranging from the pearls you see below to swimwear, birthday cake, athletic jerseys and teddy bears. The project was a lot of fun and Justine was a rock star in front of the camera. Justine had some ideas of what she wanted in the calendar so we worked together to develop the concepts and ensure we had everything we needed the night of the session. With 12 completely unique concepts, planning was extremely important to allow for hair/makeup changes, set changes, lighting changes and the list goes on. We could have shot over several nights but time was of the essence and Justine was traveling from the other side of the state for the session so we planned for 5 hours. Justine was very gracious in allowing us to post a snippet from her calendar session. If you are interested in your own calendar or a similar project, please let us know. Justine allowed us to experiment with placing bare light bulbs around the set to create some visual interest and provide a bit of separation from the background.

I think we needed more light bulbs?!?! I think the idea has some potential.

Update: Good versus Evil Concept

With many thanks to Emilie, a good friend of the studio and frequent visitor, we were able to test out a couple of ideas for a ‘good versus evil’ series. Emile is an aspiring makeup artist so we called upon her knowledge to help out creating the look for good and evil. The angel wings, in my humble opinon, detracted from the concept. The makeup and lighting really nail the look. Of course, Emilie can easily pull off ‘good’ but she really nailed ‘evil’ too!

Boudoir Photography Lives Here – Meet Tamara

Continuing the buzz we generated last week with the launch of our boudoir photography service, we are pleased to have Tamara join the spotlight here on the blog. A HUGE THANK YOU to Tamara for allowing us to use a few images from her session as a showcase for our future clients. In a span of just a couple of hours we managed to shoot around 900 photos with two set changes and three outfit changes. 900? Yes, 900 images but we managed to pare that number down to 558 for Tamara to view and choose which photos she wanted for her album.

You are probably asking yourself if this is a typical number of photos when viewing proofs. Admittedly, we don’t normally generate so many images but Tamara’s energy and fireball attitude kind of rubbed off on us. In short, Tamara blasts from a serene smile to fits of contagious laughter all while rocking out amazing poses. We like to think it is the comfortable and laid back nature of our studio that brings out the best in our clients but that would only be part of the equation. Our clients bring out the best in us. Their adventeruous spirit, graceful beauty and awesome attitudes combined with our passion for artistic photography creates a lethal dose of photographic goodness that can’t be equaled anywhere else in Grand Rapids! : )

Boudoir Photography Lives Here – Meet Kimberly

Statuesque is probably the word that best describes Kimberly. At nearly 6′ tall it is hard to miss her as she gracefully enters a room. Working 80+ hours a week as a Pharmacist, one might think she’s be too exhausted to schedule a photo session. Well, I’m here to tell you that she possesses an infinite amount of energy and was fierce* in the studio.

We had a lot of fun during the session and the images you see below were all taken between fits of laughter, dancing or telling jokes. Thanks for an awesome session, Kimberly!! I’d also like to thank her for allowing us to post a few images from her session on the blog!!!

*Yes, I said fierce. I’m stealing it back from Christian Siriano.
